Starting the week of November 1st, The Joy of Dance Ballet School will be having a 6 week Ballet/Contemporary mini-series at Harmonia in Sausalito. This will be a wonderful way to restart classes after a break for your child or introduce your child to the world of dance. It is open for both girls and boys. We will focus on Nutcracker choreography for this FUN mini-series.

Important notes about registering and enrolling online:

  • Registering for a 2nd ballet class is highly recommended. At this level, children benefit from additional instruction, practice and support. Taking two classes a week, help dancers to develop their muscles, technique and inspires joy and delight as they grow in their proficiency in dance.
  • Tuition for the second ballet class will be reduced by 10%.
  • No classes  Thanksgiving Week (November 21 – 25)
  • No Installment Payment! Fees must be paid by the first class.
  • For Fall Classes: Enrollment is ongoing until October 4th, 2016.
  • For Fall Classes: Trial Classes are available.
  • You must provide medical information and birth date for your child.
  • If you have questions about which class is best for your child, please contact Jacqueline at 415 812-4821.
  • If there is a better time for a class for your child we can create a new class as long as at least 5 children enroll.

  • NOTE: Saturday at 10:15 is a stand-alone ballet class. With Ms. Jacqueline’s permission, you can add the second hour, a Choreography/Performance class. The two classes together constitute the Ballet Choreography/Performance Workshop. Enrollment in the workshop is by invitation only.

Summer Dance Camp, Week 02 The theme for this week is the fun and beloved ballet-

The Nutcracker: Music by Tchaikovsky, this popular ballet explains how the Prince was turned into the Nutcracker and through many adventures in beautiful fanciful lands, the young heroine Marie follows him until he is transformed to his usual self.

An alternate for this week is the Carnival of Animals, a musical suite of fourteen movements with fourteen different types of animals by the French composer Camille Saint-Saens.

Summer Dance Camp, Week 03 The theme for this week is a well known, dramatic ballet-

Sleeping Beauty: Music by Tchaikovsky. A familiar favorite ballet. The premise: The King and his Queen have welcomed their first child, Princess Aurora, and declare a grand christening ceremony to honor her. Six fairies are invited to the ceremony to bestow gifts on the child. Each fairy represents a virtue or positive trait, such as beauty, courage, sweetness, musical talent, and mischief…

As an alternate for this week, students will create a ballet with the theme of Fluttering faeries based on faerie scenes from famous ballets.

Summer Dance Camp, Week 05 Our theme this week is full of humor and theatre-

Coppelia;  is a comic ballet originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon to the music of  Léo Delibes. The synopsis; Dr. Coppélius is a doctor who has made a life-size dancing doll. It is so lifelike that Franz, a village youth, becomes infatuated with it and sets aside his true heart’s desire, Swanhilda. She shows him his folly by dressing as the doll, pretending to make it come to life and ultimately saving him from an untimely end at the hands of the inventor.

As an alternate for this week, students will create a ballet with the theme of Fluttering faeries based on faerie scenes from famous ballets.
